Artist Statement:

Kylee Malloy is an Australian based artist from Aotearoa/New Zealand who now resides and creates on Gadigal land. She weaves together concepts from the realms of science, nature, and humanity with a particular focus on the body as both a tangible form and a conceptual domain. Her work is rich with symbolism and semi-autobiographical elements, intuitively created from a slightly askew inner garden, illuminating hidden aspects while embracing the shadows.

Utilising a multimedia approach, she often employs wax—a medium deeply rooted in her experience with Histology and Medical Laboratories, to explore themes of transformation and preservation, delving into the duality of the clinical and everyday, raising questions about consent, aquisition, and the complex interplay between all of these.
